Tribute to
Harry Jacobs

Harry Jacobs

June 6th 1938-July 18, 2003

Beloved counselor, mentor, and friend

The Eyes in the Trees

by Judy Braun

The eyes in the trees
See campers arrive
Unloading trunks and bags
Running …..……no,
walking on the boardwalk
To find their cabin for the week.
The eyes in the trees
Watch counselors meet each camper.
The eyes in the trees
See everyone, everywhere.

The ears in the wind
Hear the banging of screen doors,
The patter of many feet on the boardwalk,
The ears in the wind
Hear laughter,
Singing and the quiet snore of campers sleeping.

This summer of 2003
The eyes in the trees will search
For Harry arriving.
And the ears in the wind
Will listen for his
hearty laugh.
The counselors and campers
W
ill remember Harry
And know
That he has joined the eyes in the trees
And the ears of the wind
To be the presence
Of God
At Pilgrim Lodge.
