2004 Annual Appeal Letter

Pilgrim Lodge

Maine Conference - United Church of Christ

“You just call out my name, and you know wherever I am, I’ll come running”

-Carole King

Dear Friend of Pilgrim Lodge,

Pilgrim Lodge is calling you.

This ministry is strong and responsive.  While similar programs are seeing declining enrollments, ours has increased over the past ten years and held steady for the last three.  The site is being cared for and new and improved programs abound.  We are catching up on deferred maintenance, thanks to generous gifts of both time and talent from volunteers and donors.  While fees have increased modestly over the years, we still offer opportunities of loving and life-changing Christian ministry at a very reasonable cost.

This letter is to announce the beginning of the Pilgrim Lodge annual appeal.

Pilgrim Lodge has been a ministry of the Maine Conference United Church of Christ for almost 50 years.  During that time it has been supported both directly and indirectly by gifts to Our Church’s Wider Mission and Fellowship Dues.  Until this coming year the Maine Conference budget also contained a direct allocation to support program and staff costs.  With declining gifts to the overall Maine Conference budget, this allocation had to be cut in the 2004 budget.

We ask you to consider making a contribution to Pilgrim Lodge to support and grow this ministry.    The funds you donate to this ministry will be used directly to support our camp.

Pilgrim Lodge is an experience that helps young people and adults develop their faith and find their way.  This is our ministry.  Each camp week, volunteers from all over Maine come together to set the table for the feast God offers.  It is a blessing, a privilege and a responsibility.  I thank you for your participation in this vital endeavor.  Please “come running” with us.

Faithfully,

The Reverend Bryan S. Breault

Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as eagles, they         shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint, help us Lord, help us Lord, in thy way.
