Youth of the Maine Conference
Friendship & Mission Trip to Honduras early in 2006

Co-sponsored by the Honduras Partnership
& Outdoor Ministries Committees

Special additions:
an overnight to the Mayan Ruins at Copan!

 This good-will and mission trip will visit our partner church, the Evangelical and Reformed
Church of Honduras and its projects: particularly the new camp to be designed and built at Lake Yojoa. The trip will begin with a friendship retreat in San Pedro Sula where we will meet
 with young people from the Evangelical and Reformed Church. 

This trip will be for the young people from grades 9 - 12 traveling with advisors on a 1 – 3 ratio. We will all be living together as a total community of 30 - 40 people in San Pedro Sula, at a
resort facility on Lake Yojoa and in the village of Ruinas de Copan. We are growing
together in our partnership with the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Honduras and
AIEH, their institutional outreach division!! While in Honduras we will be working with our missionaries and with ministers of the E & R Sinod.

These are the details as we now know them.

The cost of the trip will be $1200.00.  per person. This includes:

Round-trip flight from Boston to Miami and then from Miami to San Pedro Sula on American Airlines.

Seven nights accommodation in double bedded rooms with three young people and one
adult in each room.

In San Pedro Sula – Either at the Hotel Gran Sula or at the Hotel Bolivar

In Copan - Casa de la Cafe or The Blue Iguana Bed and Breakfasts

Accommodations at Lake Yojoa to be determined.

Ground transportation to be arranged by our Partners in Honduras

Breakfast each morning at our hotels

Lunch and water taken with us each day from San Pedro or our resort location

Dinner nightly at different restaurants in San Pedro or Copan

Transfers from the airport.

Departure taxes

 

Not included in the price of the trip are:

 Optional trip cancellation insurance which is highly recommended!!!!!!!

            Snacks

            Souvenirs

            Cost of passports

            Any medications or medical attention required while abroad.

            Recommended shots or vaccinations prior to the trip.

You will have a space once we have received a non-refundable $100.00
 deposit
made payable to Maine Conference U.C.C. and the reservation form. Medical
forms and further information will be available as soon as the hotels and airlines confirm
with us. Please read these materials very carefully - know what you are responsible for
and when the deadlines are.

 Traveling internationally we have no flexibility.

Timeline to the trip:

 

 As soon as possible please register for the mandatory retreat for all trip

 participants which will take place at Pilgrim Lodge from August 17 – 20, 2005

 

Friday, July 29th,  Deadline for receipt of $100.00 deposit and reservation forms.

Sunday, December 4, 3:00 PM - Mandatory meeting for travel group

All those under 21 must be accompanied by a parent. Location to be announced closer to
the meeting

Sunday, December 4 - Date for payment of all balances. After this date there can be no
changes of plans.

This amount is not refundable - get travel cancellation insurance for your own protection.

 

                        ***Important - Read this next note very carefully***

            By Sunday, December 4 all passport numbers for the travel group

                        MUST be in the hands of the group leaders for airline purposes.

 

 Sunday, January 8 - Meeting of the travel group.

  Sunday, February 5 - Meeting of the travel group

  Thursday, February 16 - Leave from Boston    

 Arrival in San Pedro Sula at 12:30 PM

 Friday to Sunday – In San Pedro Sula with the youth retreat and conference

 Sunday to Wednesday – At Lake Yojoa

 Wednesday to Thursday – Overnight in Copan

 Thursday night – Back to San Pedro Sula

 Friday, February 24 -  Departure San Pedro Sula

 Back to Boston – late arrival

 It will be necessary for you to arrange to miss school on Thursday, Feb. 16th and
Friday, February 17th, or any other days which are not part of your February school
vacation

Transportation for the trip will be by American Airlines and by buses while in Honduras, or by vans or other vehicles driven by adults over 21 years of age.  All meals and lodging are included in the price. However, travel insurance and cancellation insurance and all items of a personal nature are not included.
