Justice Together

During this unique and powerful week, we will explore the deeply interconnected justice issues that impact our own communities, our identities, and youth in particular. Campers will have the opportunity to explore themes of justice and leadership through fun, creative, contemplative, and challenging opportunities rooted in place-based experiences.

This intentionally small group of high school aged youth will share their experiences and grow in their skills as youth leaders in the world today. We will consider how spirituality, art, science, and community-mindedness can support this work in order to energize us to engage across a lifetime. While spending a week on Lake Cobbosseecontee in West Gardiner, ME, campers will befriend, honor, revel in, and learn from the lake and forest where Pilgrim Lodge is located. We will swim, boat, sing, craft, play games, make art, savor ice cream, and gather around the campfire to share our stories of person and place.

While Pilgrim Lodge is a camp of the United Church of Christ with deep roots and sacred symbolism from the Christian tradition woven throughout its identity, Justice Together is a multifaith program that has been created for young people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds to engage in meaningful conversations that respect the spiritual and religious paths of all campers. Pilgrim Lodge has counselors and staff representing a variety of faith traditions, including atheist and agnostic. Each of these pathways are honored and celebrated. Our Sacred Gathering times carve out space to be still, to engage one another’s stories, to sing, and to enjoy the beauty of nature and community.
