Join us at Pilgrim Lodge, a UCC summer camp in West Gardiner, Maine on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee for OWL training while enjoying the beauty of this retreat setting in the woods.

Trainers Rev. Elizabeth Barnum (United Church of Christ) and Rev. Lara K-J Campbell (Unitarian Universalist) will provide the Elementary-Level of the Our Whole Lives curriculum to prepare participants to facilitate trainings with youth.

Our Whole Lives helps our young people make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, health and behavior in the context of their faith. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health and society and culture. It provides not only facts about anatomy and human development, but helps participants to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills and understand the social, emotional and spiritual aspect of sexuality.

Prior to the training, participants will need to purchase the curriculum for the level they will be facilitating first as follows:

  • Grades K-1: Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education for Grades K-1, 2nd edition is available in three formats (choose one):
    • Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for Grades K-1, 2nd edition
    • Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for Grades K-1 Unitarian Universalist edition
    • Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for Grades K-1 United Church of Christ edition
  • Grades 4-6
    • Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education for Grades 4-6, 2nd edition
    • AND It’s Perfectly Normal, 2021 edition, by Robie Harris
    • AND, for those facilitating in a UU or UCC setting, Sexuality and Our Faith for Grades 4-6, 2nd edition

These are available through UCC Resources or the UUA Bookstore.  UCC participants who order through UCC Resources can receive a 20% discount (email info@pilgrimlodge.org for the discount code).

Approximately 3 hours of pre-work is to be done PRIOR to the training, which includes watching a webinar, a meditation, and writing reflections. You will receive more specific information about this and access to training materials two weeks prior to the training.

Participants have a choice to arrive at Pilgrim Lodge on Wednesday, June 17 after 4 PM to enjoy dinner and settle in or by 8:30 AM on Thursday, June 18 to begin training. Lodging is in cabins of 3-4 people with a shared bathroom and shower. All cabins have electricity and hot water in the shower. Training will end by 4:30 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Meals and lodging will be provided with the registration fee as follows:

Wednesday arrival: $510 (includes training fee, lodging for 3 nights and 9 meals)

Thursday arrival: $435 (includes training fee, lodging for 2 nights and 7 meals)

The deadline to register is May 28, 2026.
